Mark Richt Says A Few Will Be Team Leaders This Year

Last year I felt like one big concern was lack of leadership from players. We all remember David Greene and Pollack. Now I can definitely see Boling, Joe Cox, and Curran stepping up to provide team encouragement during games. I guess Curran will be doing everything except punting;)

A face to face with UGA’s Mark Richt Morgan County Citizen Online:
"“Coach Richt, I always worried going into a season who my team leaders were going to be and if I had done enough to encourage them as a leader. Who do you think your team leaders will be this year and what do you do to try to get them to accept this role to provide a positive influence on other members of the team?”

Coach Richt’s reply: “We work hard to identify and promote leaders within each position group. The individual position coaches are kind of in charge of this because they have the most day to day contact with those players. Some of the guys that I have noticed and have high hopes for to be leaders are people like Joe Cox, Rennie Curran, Mike Moore, Ben Jones and Clint Bolling to name a few. We are fortunate to have a lot of seniors as well who have taken steps during summer workouts to make sure everyone is giving the kind of effort it takes to have a successful season and putting peer pressure on them to stay clear of trouble.
